Every month I go to get the calendar out to take E’s monthly photo, I will never not be in shock that yet another month has gone by! I LOVE seeing how much he has grown month to month, but I would not be mad if time slowed down just a little bit.
We had E’s six month doctors appointment and I was so excited to see how much he had grown. He is now 17 lbs 8 oz, which keeps him in the 50th percentile for weight. And he is now 27.5 inches long, jumping from the 50th percentile at 4 months to now the 85th percentile! It’s no shocker that this boy is going to be tall, but I was not expecting that much in 2 months! Bless his little heart – when he had is round of shots, the little guy only cried for no more than 15 seconds and then was all smiles 🙂
This past month was a big month for Ethan as he had his first vacation to the Outer Banks! He was so great and loved his feet in the sand and in the wake of the ocean (thank god!) If this baby hated the ocean we would be in for some not-so-fun vacations. On the beach I would bring down his little saucer for him to stand in and play and when he would be tired, we would strap him in the beach stroller, go for a walk and he would take the longest naps on the beach!
Food wise – E is now getting mostly formula, but at least one bottle a day of what I can pump out and what I was able to freeze when I was on leave. I had made a goal to make it at least to six months of pumping and then possibly quit at that point. I dropped a few sessions while on vacation but then realizing my supply started getting lower I freaked out and realized I was not ready to give it. E barely latches on anymore, but being able to pump still makes me feel like I can still have that bond with him. I’m sure I sound like a crazy person and poor Steve had to deal with that crazy emotional roller coaster.
He is SO close to sitting up on his own, but he is not completely able to do so without tipping over. Also, still no teeth but they have to be popping out any day with the way he is chewing on everything and drooling.
Ethan’s six month highlights:
- first road trip in the Jeep & his grandparent’s RV
- first vacation and trip to the beach!
- first Ferry ride to Ocracoke
- got his first pair of Nike’s from his Uncle Jimmie
- taking more naps on his stomach
- first taste of some real food: a banana and a pancake (cue Jack Johnson)
- first trip to the Treehouse!
shark romper – on sale!
MONTH SIX FAVORITE PRODUCTS: for the beach – this hat and these sunglasses were great to protect his little bald, white head. I tried to make sure his white skin was out of the sun all of the time and the doctor said no sunscreen before 6 months, but there were times I did put some on his legs to be safe. I used this sunscreen and had no issues! For (what I thought was) teething and warm days, I did make E some breastmilk popsicles! They were for sure messy but he loved them (pictured above).
